A month ago I didn’t know the name of my fourth great Schütz grandfather and wasn’t even sure I would ever know. Every time I look at the records I found at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City I get excited all over again. The death record of Johann Gerlach Schütz was full of information!

born 14 October 1781 in Nisterburg (a village not too far from Langenbach)
married, lived in Langenbach
His parents are Johann Heinrich Schütz and Elizabetha Catherina Held from Nisterburg (another generation – my fifth great-grandparents!)
married 14 October 1804 to Anna Maria Hoelzemann
died 1 November 1843 (two years before his son Friedrich Ludwig Schütz moved his family to Texas)
